The legal cannabis industry is often described through funding rounds, retail footprints, celebrity partnerships, and multi-state expansion plans. But we believe some of the most culturally important brands are not built through conventional corporate machinery. They are built through trust. Silly Nice was born in Harlem and is operationally based in Brooklyn, and our name has traveled far beyond New York through family conversations, international travel, WhatsApp groups, voice notes, and the tightly connected networks of the African diaspora.

At the center of that movement is our co-founder LeVar Thomas, whose approach has prioritized authentic ownership, transparent products, cultural relevance, and small-batch consistency over the polished sameness of traditional cannabis marketing. We are grateful for every community that has carried our story forward, and for every customer who chose to share Silly Nice with someone they love.

A Brand Born From Harlem's Cultural Legacy

To understand Silly Nice, it helps to understand Harlem. Harlem has never been simply a neighborhood. It is a global symbol of Black creativity, intellectual life, music, fashion, literature, entrepreneurship, and political expression. Generations of artists and business owners have used Harlem as a place to create culture on their own terms, often without waiting for approval from established institutions. That history makes Harlem a natural birthplace for our brand. We emerged from an environment where presentation matters, authenticity is tested immediately, and cultural credibility cannot be manufactured with a marketing budget.

Why Brooklyn Became Our Operational Base

Harlem provided the cultural spark, but building a sustainable cannabis business also requires infrastructure, logistics, production relationships, and daily operational discipline. We established our primary company base in Brooklyn, connecting Harlem's cultural influence with one of the world's most recognized centers of independent commerce and creative entrepreneurship. The structure is clear to us: Harlem represents our birthplace and cultural heritage, Brooklyn provides our operational base, and the African diaspora carries our story into an international conversation.

The Diaspora Pipeline Is Stronger Than Advertising

Our international interest did not begin with an overseas billboard campaign or an expensive agency strategy. It developed through what we can only describe as a transatlantic word-of-mouth loop. A consumer discovers Silly Nice in New York and shares the experience with friends, relatives, or professional contacts. Diaspora members travel between the United States and cities such as Lagos, Accra, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Nairobi. Recommendations continue through private messages, family gatherings, group chats, and voice notes, and then the conversation returns to New York, where international interest strengthens the brand's domestic cultural value.

This cycle works because recommendations within family and community networks often carry more influence than paid advertising. A polished campaign can introduce a brand, but a trusted friend explaining why a product stood out can create genuine demand. For us, that process begins with product performance. When someone experiences the texture of our Bubble Hash, the craftsmanship of a Frosted Hash Ball, or the versatility of our Diamond Powder, and the experience meets expectations, the product becomes part of a larger story about independent ownership, New York culture, and Black entrepreneurship.

The West Africa Connection: Lagos and Accra

West Africa maintains especially strong social, economic, and family connections with New York. People regularly move between the city and major destinations such as Lagos and Accra for business, holidays, weddings, and family visits. Our brand fits naturally into that exchange. Our Black ownership and independent operating model resonate in markets where consumers closely observe how entrepreneurs maintain control of their companies while competing against heavily financed corporations. Within WhatsApp groups and private community conversations, people are not only discussing what we make. They are discussing who built it, where it came from, and how it has grown.

Authenticity Is Our Most Valuable Export

We did not assemble our identity in a distant corporate conference room and retrofit it with New York imagery. Our identity was formed within the city's community networks from the beginning. That foundation gave us something difficult to reproduce: a story people felt comfortable sharing. We are a Black-owned, Veteran-owned, LGBTQ-owned, family-operated New York cannabis brand, and we have expanded into more than 150 licensed adult-use dispensaries by building around a tightly curated catalog rather than an oversized collection of interchangeable products.

The Products Sustaining the Global Interest

Our catalog includes solventless Bubble Hash, hand-pressed Frosted Hash Balls, potent THCa Diamond Powder, infused flower, and vape products designed for experienced consumers who value quality, consistency, and clearly defined product identities. Each product carries the same intention: small-batch, full-spectrum, high-potency cannabis made to be used intentionally and in smaller amounts. A mindful amount of a well-made product can deliver more character than a larger amount of something ordinary.

Why Our Story Matters

We share this story because we believe independent brands can build international recognition without sacrificing the identity that made people care in the first place. Thank you to every customer, every diaspora community, and every dispensary that has carried Silly Nice forward. We will keep making products worthy of that trust.

Frequently Asked Questions

How did Silly Nice become a global brand?

Silly Nice was born in Harlem and grew in Brooklyn, but our vision is rooted in the history of the African diaspora. We bridge local community roots with global perspectives.

Who founded Silly Nice?

Silly Nice was founded by LeVar Thomas, who built the company on a foundation of quality, community, and representation within the New York cannabis industry.

The Harlem Genesis: Crafting Culture from the Ground Up

Silly Nice's roots are firmly planted in Harlem, a neighborhood synonymous with Black creativity, resilience, and cultural innovation. This environment has deeply influenced our brand's DNA, instilling a commitment to authenticity, community, and building something meaningful from the ground up. Co-founder LeVar Thomas’s vision prioritized cultural relevance and transparent, small-batch products over the often sterile, corporate approach dominating the cannabis industry. This foundation, forged in Harlem's vibrant spirit, is what allows Silly Nice to connect with audiences far beyond New York, resonating with the shared values of the African diaspora.

Being born in Harlem means understanding the power of storytelling and the importance of cultural credibility. It’s a place where brands are tested by their authenticity and their ability to genuinely connect with people. This ethos guides every aspect of our operation, from the meticulous crafting of our Bubble Hash and Frosted Hash Ball to the thoughtful branding of our infused flower and vapes. We aim to create products that not only meet high standards of quality and potency but also carry a narrative that reflects our heritage and our commitment to empowering our community.

Brooklyn's Operational Backbone: Building for Scale and Sustainability

While Harlem provided the cultural inspiration and foundational identity for Silly Nice, establishing our operational base in Brooklyn was a strategic move to ensure sustainability and growth. Brooklyn offers a robust ecosystem for independent businesses, providing access to essential infrastructure, logistics, and a skilled workforce. This allows us to translate the cultural vision conceived in Harlem into tangible, high-quality cannabis products that can be produced consistently and distributed effectively throughout New York. The synergy between Harlem's cultural influence and Brooklyn's operational prowess is key to our brand's success.

Our Brooklyn operations are focused on maintaining the small-batch integrity and meticulous craftsmanship that define Silly Nice. This means carefully selecting partners, refining production processes, and upholding the highest standards for everything from our THCa Diamond Powder to our 510 Vape Carts. By building a strong operational foundation, we can ensure that our brand’s reach extends further, connecting with a broader audience while staying true to our core values. This dual focus on cultural authenticity and operational excellence is what allows Silly Nice to thrive as a New York-based brand.

The Diaspora Network: Global Reach Through Authentic Connection

The journey of Silly Nice, from Harlem to global recognition, is a testament to the power of the African diaspora’s interconnected networks. Our brand’s growth hasn't been fueled by massive advertising campaigns, but rather by genuine word-of-mouth, personal recommendations, and the shared experiences of individuals who bridge continents. This organic spread through family, friends, and professional circles has created a unique and powerful pipeline, connecting communities from Lagos to London, Accra to Toronto, and beyond. It’s a validation of our commitment to creating products that resonate on a deeply personal and cultural level.

This diaspora pipeline allows our story and our products, like the meticulously crafted Bubble Hash and potent Diamond Powder, to travel organically. It fosters a sense of pride and ownership among consumers who share Silly Nice with their networks, strengthening brand loyalty and expanding our reach in ways that traditional marketing cannot replicate. We are incredibly grateful for this organic growth and the trust placed in us by communities worldwide. It reinforces our belief that authenticity and quality are the most effective ways to build a truly global brand rooted in shared heritage.
