New York law allows cannabis consumption in private spaces. If you're staying with a friend or family member in a private residence, that is the ideal and most straightforward place to consume legally. Where You Cannot Consume

And please, never drive after consuming cannabis — always use a rideshare, subway, or another sober means of transportation.

We know navigating consumption as a tourist can feel complicated, but the rules exist for good reason. Being thoughtful and respectful about where you consume ensures the legal market stays strong and accessible for everyone — residents and visitors alike.

We cannot stress this enough: do not attempt to transport cannabis out of the United States and back to Andorra. Cannabis remains federally illegal in the United States, and transporting it across international borders — even in small amounts — is a federal crime that can result in serious legal consequences, including arrest, detention, and prosecution. US Customs and Border Protection actively screens travelers and their luggage at all international departure points.

Additionally, importing cannabis into Andorra is illegal under Andorran law. There is no legal pathway for bringing purchased cannabis products home with you, regardless of where you purchased them or how they are packaged. Any cannabis you purchase during your visit to New York City must be consumed during your stay and disposed of legally before you depart the United States.
