Before you walk into any dispensary, here's what you need to know: cannabis is fully legal for adults 21 and older in New York State. That means if you're a visitor, tourist, or traveler — legal status in New York is based on age, not residency. You do not need to be a New York resident to purchase cannabis legally. All you need is a valid government-issued ID proving you are 21 or older.
