Understanding New York's Cannabis Laws as a Tourist
New York State legalized adult-use cannabis in 2021, and licensed dispensaries began opening to the public in late 2022. As a visitor to NYC, here's what you need to know before you walk into a dispensary: cannabis is legal for adults 21 years of age and older. That applies to tourists and visitors as well as residents. You do not need to be a New York citizen or resident to make a legal purchase.
