The Marihuana Regulation and Taxation Act (MRTA) legalized adult-use cannabis in 2021, and licensed dispensaries began opening across the state shortly after. What's Legal and What's Not

Yes — absolutely. There is no residency requirement to purchase cannabis from a licensed New York dispensary. International visitors are fully welcome. All you need is a valid government-issued photo ID proving you are 21 or older. Your Portuguese passport or national identity card (Cartão de Cidadão) works perfectly.
