We are Silly Nice — a Black-owned, Veteran-owned, LGBTQ+-owned, family-run cannabis brand born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City. We were founded in March 2024 by Shane Breen, a U.S. Army Veteran, and LeVar Thomas, his partner of 25 years. You may consume cannabis in most outdoor spaces where smoking tobacco is permitted — however, consumption is prohibited in vehicles (as a driver or passenger), on public transportation, in parks designated as smoke-free, inside restaurants and bars, in hotel rooms where smoking is banned, and in any federal property. Public consumption violations can result in fines. Our strong advice is to enjoy your Silly Nice products responsibly and privately, in a setting where you feel comfortable and where consumption is explicitly allowed.
A Note for Visitors from Saudi Arabia: Know Before You Go
We want to be completely transparent with you because we respect you and we want your visit to be a positive one. Cannabis laws in Saudi Arabia are among the strictest in the world. Possession, use, transportation, and trafficking of cannabis are all illegal under Saudi law, and penalties can be severe. What happens in New York must stay in New York.
This means that under absolutely no circumstances should you attempt to bring any cannabis product — including our concentrates, hash balls, vape cartridges, or infused flower — back with you to Saudi Arabia or onto any international flight. U.S. federal law also prohibits transporting cannabis across state lines or internationally, regardless of the legal status in any given state. Bring Your Passport
Every licensed dispensary in New York City is required by law to verify your age before allowing any purchase. As an international visitor from Saudi Arabia, your passport is your best and most universally accepted form of identification. Budtenders — the knowledgeable staff who work in dispensaries — will check your passport at the door, just as a bar would check your ID. There is nothing unusual about this process; it is standard practice and takes only a moment. Make sure your passport clearly shows your date of birth and that you are 21 years of age or older.
Cash Is King — But Cards Are Often Accepted
Many New York dispensaries operate on a cash-preferred or cash-only basis due to federal banking restrictions on cannabis businesses. We strongly recommend carrying cash in U.S. dollars when visiting any dispensary. Most dispensaries also have ATMs on-site if you need to withdraw cash before your purchase. Some locations do accept debit or credit cards — but do not count on it. Having $50 to $100 in cash on hand will ensure a smooth and easy transaction wherever you shop.
No Public Consumption — Know Your Space
While cannabis is legal in New York City, public consumption laws are specific and enforced.
